Bodegas Escudero Vidau Rioja 2004

Genuinely the best bottle of wine I've had in recent memory. Lush, velvety, full of cherry, leather, and cocoa, with a hint of lavender. That it's just $25 is almost criminal, as I would easily put it up against $250 - $300 bottles of Bordeaux in terms of complexity and character.

Can a $25 bottle become a "special occasion" wine? Well, with only two bottles left in my personal cellar ... this one is.
